But will God really dwell on earth with men? The heavens, even
the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have
built!
I hear a lot that no god would ever live on earth with mere
mortals – heck, there are a ton of movies out about gods and action heroes that
look down on us from their fictional thrones.
After it was built Solomon dedicated a temple -kind of an old
school ribbon cutting ceremony - when he realized that in his humble
opinion this tremendous accomplishment of great beauty was far too
insignificant and small to house the Creator of the Universe.
But our God did choose to dwell with mortals.
That is what the life of Jesus is about.
God is awesome and beyond description, far too holy to be
expected to associate with flawed human beings.
As God, however, He has chosen to love us and come and live with
us so we can return to Him and share in His glory.
