on the right

The Son is the shining brightness of God’s glory. He is the exact likeness of God’s being. He uses His powerful word to hold all things together. He provided the way for people to be made pure from sin. Then He sat down at the right hand of the King, the Majesty in heaven.

- Hebrews 1:3 (NIRV)

Have you ever done a tour of any kind where the tour guide says something like “if you look to the left, you will see…”?
Or been on a road trip and said to the people in the vehicle “hey, look over there!”?
There is so much to see when you look around, but sometimes we do need a tour guide to point things out to us.

Imagine when we get to Heaven, that we might get a tour.
That an angel of the Lord will lead us past the great prophets and people we’ve spent our lives reading about in the Bible.
“On the left you will see Moses, he is telling the children of the time he led God’s people out of Egypt.”, and even though the children know the story by heart, their attention is fully on Moses, hearing his story.
“On the right you will see Paul, he is still preaching the good news of our Savior” and you see a crowd around him, listening intently to make sure they don’t miss a word.
As you walk down the streets paved of gold, you see all the greats of this world, Martin Luther, John Wesley, John Calvin, John Smyth, William White, John Sinclair.
Moving further along you see your own ancestors, and all are welcoming you with warm smiles.

Then, suddenly, up ahead you see Him, and the tour guide will say “if you look to the right next to the throne, your Savior, Jesus.”

Jesus sees you in the crowd and He stands, opens His arms for you to run to Him.

He really is there, seated at the right hand of the Father, just like we have been told our whole lives.

And we get to run to Him.
