anyway

Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!”

- Matthew 20:17-19 (NIV)

Yesterday we observed Palm Sunday.
The Bible tells us that on this day, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and the townspeople threw their cloaks and palm branches on the road in front of Him shouting “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”
It was a huge celebration, and many were glad to see Him pass through the city gates.
But their joy would be short-lived, as this same group of people that welcomed Him in just a few days would tell Pontius Pilate that they wanted Him crucified.
Jesus knew He was about to experience some of the most excruciating pain anyone could endure, yet He followed the plan anyway.

I don’t know about you, but I try to avoid situations that are going to cause me pain.

Jesus knew what the outcome would be, nevertheless He went to Jerusalem anyway.

How often do we think we know what the outcome of our actions will be?

Jesus knew He would soon die, still He got on that donkey and rode into town.

If we could see what our future holds, would we follow the path laid out for us, or would we turn and run, try to hide from the fate that awaits us.
Jesus knew, and just the same, He did what was expected of Him.

How sad is it that we wouldn’t do the same for Him?
The request is simple, follow Him.
Let’s do it.
