new rules

And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed.

- John 3:19-20 (NLT)

Have you noticed that humans constantly make new rules to justify their acceptance to God or denial that He is real?

People take the words that God placed before us, twist, modify and format them to fit their standards.

Then they turn around and fail at keeping their own standards and feel condemned, and when they feel condemned, they rebel.

There are people who truly love the darkness (evil) more than the light (Jesus).

But let’s look at this: have you ever cheated on a diet or had answers written on your hand for a test?

It doesn’t have to be something evil - if you do things that you hope no one finds out about you are trying to hide things from Jesus.

Lying, even lying by omission are still things that you are trying to hide.

And what happens when you get caught?

You try to back pedal or justify what you have done.

Don’t be like that, confess your sin, ask God to cleanse your soul, your heart.

God is greater than all the rule making and breaking that goes on in this world.

His mercy overrides the pitiful efforts of others to destroy us, our faith, and our love.

His gospel empowers us to keep His commandments.

Remember that you are loved, no matter what human standards you or anyone else happens to set.

It is so much better in the light.
