contentment

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.

- 1 Timothy 6:6-8

Remember the Harry Chapin song “Cats in the Cradle”?

It’s about a man and his son, but the man was too busy making a living to be with the child while he was growing, then when the man did have time to be with his son, his son was too busy for him.

It’s a sad song in many ways, and yet so many families are still experiencing this today.

Why do we work so hard to always have the best of everything?

Why can’t we just be content with what we have?

Treasure the times that you are able to be with your family because stuff is just stuff, it can all be replaced and when you are gone, well, you don’t get to bring your shiny new car or fancy clothes with you when you die.

Be thankful and content for the things you have.
