do good

O Lord, do good to those who are good, whose hearts are in tune with you. But banish those who turn to crooked ways, O Lord. Take them away with those who do evil.

- Psalm 125:4-6

“Well, her heart is in the right place.”

I have heard that often, trying to explain someone that just can’t quite do the right thing.

You can’t just be good on the outside, no matter how hard you try. 

Goodness comes from within, from the heart, so if your heart is in the right place, you should be able to do good, because you trust in the Lord and faith is the root of righteousness.

But those that turn their backs on God, who let evil win, well even if “their heart is in the right place” God is going to see the truth.

Hopefully they will see that what they are doing is wrong, and ask forgiveness.
