it’s my choice

I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart on Your laws.

I am studying the book of Psalms in school right now, it is an amazing place to be.
This one stands out.
We all have choices in life.
I am trying to lose weight right now, and every day I have a choice of the food that will help me reach my goal, or the Dunkin Donuts in the next pod down.
My taste buds want that donut, but my brain knows that it will not help me to eat it.
Sometimes we contemplate straying from His path, even when our hearts know where we need to be.
Choose the way of truth, set your heart on Him.

Have a blessed day!

i am not ashamed

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
—Romans 1:16

I am not ashamed!
Look around you.
Everywhere you will find people that try to make us ashamed about our faith, claiming that we are stupid, insensitive, judgmental, and hypocritical.
I feel like I can safely say that the majority of my friends know my heart and know that I am none of those things.
I am not ashamed!
I try to share my faith humbly and gently with those who do not know Jesus.
Sometimes I push, and sometimes that pushes people away, but I love my friends, and the bottom line is that I want to see you in Heaven the day we get there!
I am not ashamed!
I believe that my Jesus left heaven to come to earth and risk everything so that I could come home to heaven with Him.
The Gospel is powerful.
The Gospel is transformational.
SONG REFERENCE!
The gospel changes everything
The turning point in history
And even now it's changing me
From who I was
The story of my Savior calls
Me to the wonder of the cross
The gospel changes everything
And it is changing me
You saved my soul
By Your blood
And I'm undone
By Your great love
You made a way
So I could come
Just as I am
To You my God
Jesus changes everything
There is no greater mystery
That God would come to rescue me
From who I was
The kindness of my Savior calls
Me to the wonder of His love
Jesus changes everything
And He is changing me
Do not be ashamed.
The Gospel is amazing.

Have a blessed day!

what's in your heart?

A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
- Luke 6:45

Oh look at that!
The verse I posted on Monday, Matthew 12:33-35 says the same thing, nearly word for word.
Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit.  You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.  A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.
- Matthew 12:33-35

I have mentioned this before, (last week and previously too) but have you ever noticed that there is a lot of repetition in the Bible?
Good things come from people with good hearts.
God obviously wants us to be aware, and to be good.
What is in your heart?

Have a blessed day!

get serious

Where do you think all these appalling wars and quarrels come from? Do you think they just happen? Think again. They come about because you want your own way, and fight for it deep inside yourselves. You lust for what you don’t have and are willing to kill to get it. You want what isn’t yours and will risk violence to get your hands on it.
- James 4:1-2 (MSG)

OK, this is kind of a strange verse to share.
Look at the NIV version of this verse.
What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.
Now, I am no expert, but I think that what is being said here is that we need to be aware of what is in our hearts.
When we see something we want, we can always go for it, live your dreams and all that.
But our dreams should not compromise our morals.
We should not have to fight to get what we want.
We should ask God.
Seriously, ask.
If it is God’s will and His timing, we will get our dreams.
But don’t go against everything you’ve been taught and resort to evil deed to achieve your dreams.
It is not worth it.

Have a blessed day!

measuring up

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
- Luke 6:38

I am sure that everyone has heard of the whole “pay it forward” concept.
For a while it was a pretty big deal.
Have you ever noticed though, that the more you give, the better things are for you?
I can honestly speak to the fact that when there is love in my heart and I give freely everything that I can, I find that my heart is even more full than when I started.
I’m not talking about money, I am talking about giving freely of myself: my time, my love, my prayers, my support.
Maybe this doesn’t make sense to you, but it really really works that way.
Open a door for someone, give up the “good” parking spot, let someone cut in line.
There is truly much joy in forgetting yourself and blessing someone else.
Sometimes people don’t see what we are doing, and that is ok, don’t let it stop you.
Let others see Christ shining through you, because if we’re doing everything for the glory of God, it won’t matter if others take notice or not.
But if someone does happen to observe us freely giving ourselves, hopefully they will see it as “a God thing”.
Maybe they will turn to God because of what we’ve done.

Have a blessed day!

what are you made of?

Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.
- James 3:11-12

Here is something to ponder . . . What are you made of?
We need lots of things, we need the salt water and the fresh water, but we get them from different sources.
I like olives, figs and grapes, but I can’t get them all from one tree.
It is true then, that we need to be aware of who we are, because we don’t want people to think that we are something we are not.
Would you plant a pear tree and expect it to produce apples?
So what do people expect when they are around you?
What are you made of?

Have a blessed day!

what kind of tree are you?

Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit.  You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.  A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.
- Matthew 12:33-35

At first, I struggled a little with the first part of this verse . . .
Like how do I make a tree good or bad?
But then I read further, about how a tree is recognized by its fruit. . .  yes, yes, I know an apple tree from an orange tree, from a pear tree.
The mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
OH!
My fruit might be bad if I never care about the things I say or do, and then people will recognize ME by things I have said and done.
OH!
We need to remember that people are always observing, and will be quick to form an opinion based on what they see.
What kind of fruit is on your tree?

Have a blessed day!

thoughts for the weekend - why is grace so hard to accept?

I have not done a “thoughts for the weekend” in a while, sometimes we need a reminder J
My wonderful husband is in a year long class at church that requires reading and homework (in addition to his college classes!)
Recently, he had to write and deliver a sermon for the group.  He read it to me first, and I was so moved, I asked for permission to put it on my blog, which he granted.
It is a little longer read (it is a sermon) but I hope that you all are able to take something away from it.  Thank you my love, for letting me share this.

Why is Grace so hard to accept?
I could not, would not, on a boat.
I will not, will not, with a goat.
I will not eat them in the rain.
I will not eat them on a train.
Not in the dark! Not in a tree!
Not in a car! You let me be!
I do not like them in a box.
I do not like them with a fox.
I will not eat them in a house.
I do not like them with a mouse.
I do not like them here or there.
I do not like them anywhere!

I do not like
Green eggs
And ham!

I do not like them,
Sam-I-am.

How many of us were or still are like the character in Green Eggs and Ham, we’ve never tried it, there isn’t a circumstance that would cause us to want it, we know nothing about it, and because of that we want nothing to do with it.  Just like getting the character in Green Eggs and Ham to try them, why is it so hard for some Christ followers to accept grace as a free gift, and everything it offers.

Ephesians 2:8  For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.

Michelle Mayer put it well when she said “We want to earn it, or at least feel as though “we’ve done enough” to get ourselves over the minimum number of good deeds on God’s chart that tracks those who are worthy enough to enter an eternity of life with Him. “

It’s a free gift, free, we didn’t pay for it, we really didn’t earn it, it’s just given to us.  I don’t remember where I heard it, it may have been a sermon at Church or a different study, it may have been a book I read, but it was said that by not accepting Christ’s grace, it was like an unopened Christmas gift, it’s been given to you, but what good is a box sitting in the corner with wrapping paper on it.  It’s still been given, it just hasn’t been accepted.

First, People want to measure how well they are doing.  I think in reality people want to do the right thing, but they also want to know they are the ones doing it, our last study we talked about Holiness.  I had a lot of questions reading that book.  It felt very legalistic, almost like we needed to accept the Old Testament laws to be saved.  Grace saves us from the law, not that the law needs to be ignored as we studied in our previous book, but that we can make mistakes and the grace is still there.  The Old Testament Laws give people a counter, a ruler, something to measure how they are doing.  Woo hoo, I only broke 3 commandments today, but I followed 7.  Maybe tomorrow I can go for 2 of 8.  I don’t want to diminish the law, but as humans we are imperfect, and because of that there is no way we can follow laws perfectly.  Thank you for the gift of grace.

Romans 6:14  For sin shall no longer be your master, because you not under the law but under grace.

Secondly, we feel the need to compare ourselves to others.  I think the What Would Jesus Do movement has slowed down a bit.  It’s still used occasionally, but it has been overused and beaten down so much that there may be a fear to utter those words, the retribution can be harsh.  More recently I have heard “Just because your sin is different than mine doesn’t make you better”.  Wow, if that actually inspired a little inner searching, it may do some good.  But I think statements like that are used to compare ourselves to others, once again going back to the law, I may have visited some adult websites today, but I don’t cheat on my taxes like my neighbor to the left, and I don’t abuse my kids like my neighbor to the right.  The gift of grace is free to everyone, equally, there is no way to say Kevin got a better box of grace than I did, or that my gift of grace cost more than Jane’s.  It’s same for everyone one, equal for all.

Acts 15:11 We believe and are saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they are.

Revelation 22:21 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with everyone.

Third, We resist change.  If I accept this how will my life change.  Will I lose friends?  Will my family see a change in me?  Do I have to change my life and how much?  Unfortunately,  I feel all of those may happen, and honestly those may be either positive or negative depending on the beliefs of your peers and family members.  Life may be in turmoil for a bit as with all change.  Those fears I believe are very short lived.  I think the habits of a person filled with grace will be better, temptation is still there but in many cases, we may be better equipped to handle it.  I also feel that a grace fill life can be contagious to others, as they see God working through you, they will be more ready to accept God’s grace as well.

2 Timothy 2:1 As for you, my son, be strong through the grace that is ours in union with Christ Jesus

Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.

Fourth, Free can be a four letter word. It doesn’t always inspire confidence, sometimes you don’t want to hear it.  One of those words, that usually isn’t what it means.   I, on many occasions have said that “Free is my favorite 4 letter F word”  But,  how many free gifts are really all they are cracked up to be.  How many are actually free.  First month free, buy one get one free, free just pay shipping and handling.  Of course, you have to sign up for the 12 month contract, buy the first overpriced item and shipping and handling cost more than that actual item.  On the other side of the coin, there is no such thing as a free lunch, you pay for quality.  It’s free how good could it be?  Bear in mind this was paid for just not by us.

Colossians 3:15 “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Cue Chris Pratt video <this is the awards ceremony speech I referenced in my blog on June 29th , here it is again>
Chris Pratt, an actor best known for his role on a sitcom, was the recipient of the Generation Award at the MTV Movie & TV Awards
His acceptance speech, given on national television was absolutely amazing.
"I'm going to cut to the chase and I am going to speak to you, the next generation," Pratt said. "I accept the responsibility as your elder. So, listen up."
He followed that with what he called 9 rules for living.
Some of them were a little silly, but please note rules 2, 6, 8 and 9.
1. "Breathe. If you don't, you will suffocate."
2. "You have a soul. Be careful with it."
3. "Don't be a turd. If you are strong, be a protector. If you are smart, be a humble influencer. Strength and intelligence can be weapons, so do not wield them against the weak. That makes you a bully. Be bigger than that."
4. "When giving a dog medicine, put the medicine in a little piece of hamburger and they won't even know they're eating medicine."
5. "It doesn't matter what it is. Earn it. A good deed. Reach out to someone in pain. Be of service. It feels good and it's good for your soul."
6. "God is real. God loves you, God wants the best for you. Believe that, I do."
7. "If you have to poop at a party, but you're embarrassed because you're going to stink up the bathroom, just do what I do. Lock the door, sit down, get all of the pee out first. And then, once all the pee is done, poop, flush, boom! You minimize the amount of time that the poop's touching the air. Because if you poop first, it takes you longer to pee and then you're peeing on top of it, stirring up the poop particles, create a cloud, goes out, then everyone at the party will know that you pooped. Just trust me, it's science."
8. "Learn to pray. It's easy, and it is so good for your soul."
9. "Nobody is perfect. People will tell you that you are perfect just the way that you are, you are not! You are imperfect. You always will be, but there is a powerful force that designed you that way, and if you are willing to accept that, you will have grace. And grace is a gift. Like the freedom that we enjoy in this country, that grace was paid for with somebody else's blood. Do not forget that. Don't take that for granted."

If you haven’t seen it. The movie MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN is based on the incredible true story of the Beam family. When Christy discovers her 10-year-old daughter Anna has a rare, incurable disease, she becomes a ferocious advocate for her daughter's healing as she searches for a solution. After Anna has a freak accident, an extraordinary miracle unfolds in the wake of her dramatic rescue that leaves medical specialists mystified, her family restored and their community inspired.

If you don’t want to hear the end cover your ears now but there are 2 quotes near the end of the movie.

One of the Doctors says - Other than the possibility of a slight concussion, your daughter has no broken bones, complete movement of all her limbs. There's no internal bleeding, no indication of bruising. In fact, after hitting the ground skull first with dirt packed to the top of her head, she regained consciousness, woke up with a smile on her face. Oh, my God. Quite frankly, I've been a doctor for 25 years. Never seen anything like it.

Anna’s Mom says - So you're telling me that when this baby girl fell 30 feet, she hit her head just right and it didn't kill her and it didn't paralyze her. It healed her.

I don’t know if that is what was actually said, but if that isn’t God’s grace I don’t know what is.

We aren’t all going to see miracles like this.  But I think if you follow some of Chris Pratt’s advice.  First Breathe, take a moment and get your heart, mind and soul in the right place.  Second, pray, have that time with God, let him fill you with his grace.  Take a moment look around, see the miracles around you, let people see God’s grace in you, and look for God’s grace in others.  Take that moment and see God’s grace all around you.

You do not like them.
So you say.
Try them! Try them!
And you may.
Try them and you may I say.

Sam!
If you will let me be,
I will try them.
You will see.

Say!
I like green eggs and ham!
I do! I like them, Sam-I-am!
And I would eat them in a boat!
And I would eat them with a goat...
And I will eat them in the rain.
And in the dark. And on a train.
And in a car. And in a tree.
They are so good so good you see!

So I will eat them in a box.
And I will eat them with a fox.
And I will eat them in a house.
And I will eat them with a mouse.
And I will eat them here and there.
Say! I will eat them anywhere!

I do so like
Green eggs and ham!
Thank you!
Thank you,
Sam-I-am

good work!

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
—Philippians 1:3

I must be getting old, because I sure spend a lot of time reminiscing!!!
I have made so many friends over the years, some have endured for the duration, some ended quickly, but there is not a friendship that I do not treasure.
I pray without ceasing for all my friends, those who know Christ and those who don’t, especially those who don’t.
God created each of us, and He is not finished yet!!
Yup – another song reference!
He who began a good work in you
He who began a good work in you
Will be faithful to complete it
He'll be faithful to complete it
He who started the work
Will be faithful to complete it in you
If the struggle you're facing
Is slowly replacing
Your hope with despair
Or the process is long
And you're losing your song
In the night you can be sure
That the Lord has His hand on you
Safe and secure
He will never abandon you
You are His treasure
And He finds His pleasure in you
You are His treasure, and mine too.

Have a blessed day!

who do i love?

If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.  And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that.  And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full.  But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.  Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
By the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
- Luke 6:32-36

I have mentioned this before, but have you ever noticed that there is a lot of repetition in the Bible?
It is like God wants us to understand certain things.
Last week I posted Romans 12:3, which oddly enough reads nearly word for word the same as the last line of today’s verse:
By the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
Hmmmmmmmmm
My wise friend responded to that verse last week, she said A healthy self-esteem is important as long as we don’t overestimate ourselves.  The key to an honest and accurate self-evaluation is knowing the basis of our self-worth, which is our identity in Christ.”
Wow.
We need to remember to reach out to those that we would normally avoid.
Love the sinner, the enemy, and do good (even when no one is watching).
It is definitely the definition of your character, because other people see these traits in you.
I sure hope that I can learn to be as merciful as my God.

everlasting

The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
- Jeremiah 31:3

Everlasting love.
What an incredible concept.
Song reference!
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
In my heart and my soul
Lord I give You control
Consume me from the inside out,
Lord, let justice and praise
Become my embrace
To love you from the inside out
I want that everlasting unfailing love and kindness.
And I can only find it in the Father.
Let me show you the way to Him.

Have a blessed day!

do good

If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.
- James 4:17

Quite often we find ourselves in situations where we have to make decisions (like everyday!).
Sometimes it is not really a major decision – do I have toast with my coffee this morning?
Sometimes it is a deeper issue, a matter of do I walk away from a situation where I could help, or do I help.
Those are the impacting and major decisions.
When faced with a choice of doing good or doing nothing, we should always chose to do good.
When we do good, it is not just us individually that feels the results.
Little things matter.
Don’t ignore the world around you, help where you can.
Do good.

Have a blessed day!

seeking

I seek You with all my heart; do not let me stray from Your commands.
- Psalm 119:10

Remember being a kid, wanting that one toy so badly you thought you would die if you didn’t get it?
For me it was a doll house.
I never got my doll house, and I didn’t die.
When you really really want something, you pour every ounce of your being into obtaining it.
Song reference!
Oh God, You are my God
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
I will seek You in the morning
And I will learn to walk in Your ways
And Step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days
I really want to seek God.
I hope you join me.

Have a blessed day!

our days are numbered!

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
—Psalm 90:12

There have been many books and movies released that give the main character a glimpse of what is coming in the future.
Most of these stories are feel good stories and the moral is to encourage people to change their evil ways and do good.
Sometimes it works (A Christmas Carol) and sometimes it does not (Back to the Future).
Today begins my 49th year on earth, if you calculate the number of days, that is 17,897 days (including 12 leap years)(yes, I did math)(sort of)(thanks, google!).
In all those days, I like to think that I have learned to be a better person, that I have gained a heart of wisdom, and that I have used my “powers” for good.
I know that I have much more to learn.
My wish for today is that my friends and family have an open heart to receive the gift that God has given us.

Have a blessed day!

know your value

By the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
- Romans 12:3

One time I went into a pretty exclusive little shop with a friend of mine.
We did not know at the time exactly how exclusive it was, until we were looking around and were slightly floored by the price tags.
My friend said quietly to me “They are pretty proud of their stuff!”
I did not understand what she meant at the time, and fortunately my wise friend was always willing to share knowledge and observations (she is reading this and I am confident she knows I am referencing the gazillion conversations we have had *smile*)
My mother used to say that some people had their nose so high up in the air that they would drown if it rained.
When we think of ourselves, we should not hold ourselves in such high regard that others see us as untouchable, proud or vain.
Knowing our value but portraying that as a work of God, rather than the sum of our own deeds is where we want to be in life.
Remember who you are and who made you, and give God the glory, always.

Have a blessed day!

what do I deserve?

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? "I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."
- Jeremiah 17:9-10

We live in a very entitled world today.
And I am not just talking about the younger generation.
It seems like everyone is only in it for themselves.
I see a lot of “what are you going to do for me” attitude out there.
If God is rewarding man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve, there are going to be a lot of people disappointed in what they receive.
Where is your heart?
Because where your heart is, for real, shows the world who you are.

Have a blessed day!

i am sad

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
- Psalm 30:5

This verse is a repeat, sorry / not sorry.
I first used this verse on May 28th, 2016.
My reason for this verse today, however, is different than it was two years ago.
You see, last week we lost a friend.
Her earthy body is gone, but the love and legacy she left here will not be forgotten.
I am sad, sad that we won’t hear her giggle, that the memories we have made are just memories and that there will be no new memories to make.
But I see the joy in this too.
The 60 plus years she was on earth there was no such thing as a stranger, if you left her house hungry it was your own fault, and she could pretty much make anything you would want.
The 60 plus years she was on earth, she not only knew love, she gave love.
As loved as she was and as much as she will be missed, I truly believe she is dancing with our Father God in the fields of grace. (yes, that was a song reference).
And that brings me joy.
I heard this song for the first time the other day, it seems appropriate.
Everybody's dressed in black
The preacher's saying life goes too fast
The memories have turned to tears
Thinking back on all the years
I know that you're in a better place
But I'm still here missing you today
It isn't easy to say goodbye
But I know it's only for a little while
Run up ahead and I will catch up
'Cause I'm gonna see you when tomorrow comes
On the other side
On the other side
I bet you feel you're finally home
Running down those streets of gold
The kind of peace you can't explain
Looking into Jesus' face
I know that you're in a better place
I know I'll be joining you someday
Where there are no more goodbyes
No more pain, no more tears left to cry
We will join with the angels singing their song
Praising our savior, all the day long
We are going to be sad about our friend for a while, and it is ok to be sad.
Just know that sadness won't last, our joy comes in the morning.

Have a blessed day!

interesting . . .

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interest of others.
—Philippians 2:3-4

People rely on me a lot.
I have often been told that people come to me because they know they can count on me.
I have let people move in with me, loaned people money, cars, and equipment.
I have helped people complete tasks that I don’t complete for my own household!!
I do it out of love for my friends and family.
Some have abused this generous heart of mine though.
I have been trampled on, my life has been threatened by a person that I tried to help, and another just took complete advantage of my generous nature.
When I have I had to rid myself of these toxic relationships, other friends have asked if I will continue to help those in need.
Without a doubt, of course I will.
When my friends need me, I will be there in every way possible.
In Genesis 4:9, the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”
God’s answer is a clear and undeniable yes.
We have to take care of everyone, not just ourselves.

I want to shine

Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.
- Philippians 2:14-15

I cannot even begin to tell you how many times this verse has crept into my consciousness throughout my life!
Although, I admit, it was never in full context when I used it on my kids . . . (ha ha)
Oldie (but goodie) song reference:
I keep trying to find a life
On my own, apart from You
I am the king of excuses
I've got one for every selfish thing I do

What's going on inside of me?
I despise my own behavior
This only serves to confirm my suspicions
That I'm still a man in need of a Savior

I wanna be in the Light
As You are in the Light
I wanna shine like the stars in the heavens
Oh, Lord be my Light and be my salvation
Cause all I want is to be in the Light
All I want is to be in the Light

I see several  generations out in the world that want everything handed to them, and protest everything.
I wish they knew and understood this verse.
I feel that we are still in a “warped and crooked generation”
I know that I cannot change the world, but I can do everything in my power to change me, to shine.
For Him.

Have a blessed day!

Free in all ways

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
- Galatians 5:1

Happy Independence Day!
There are so many musical references to freedom, I can’t even begin to list them all (well I could, but it would take a lot of space!), but I will give an honorable mention to the Newsboys “I am Free” and Martin Luther King Junior’s “I Have A Dream” speech where he said “Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty we are free at last”
J
I hope that everyone has a moment to enjoy a little holiday fun.
Whether you are having your picnic, setting off fireworks, enjoying the lake, spending time with family and friends or working today, never forget that freedom isn’t free.
Our nation’s soldiers paid a price so we could enjoy this holiday.
Our Savior paid the ultimate price so that we can enjoy a lifetime on Earth.
We are free, free indeed.
Thank you to those who have served and continue to serve.
Thank you God, for our unending freedom in Christ Jesus.

Have a blessed day!

make it known. . .

Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel.
- Ephesians 6:19

Once more I receive affirmation that sharing the gospel in this format is what God has called me to do.
We all need to learn and grow, and I ask that you keep me in your prayers, that God would continue to guide me in sharing His word. But also I ask that through my words I am able to reach those who have not yet come to know Jesus.
I ask that you all share His word daily as well.
You never know when your smile and loving words are the only smile and comfort someone will receive on that day.

Have a blessed day!

I am known!

I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.
- John 17:26

Sometimes I wonder about my “calling” to share a daily Bible verse and commentary.
And then I hear this – “I have made you known to them”
Oh oh – song reference!
I don't need my name in lights
I'm famous in my Father's eyes
Make no mistake
He knows my name
I'm not living for applause
I'm already so adored
It's all His stage
He knows my name oh, oh,
He knows my name oh, oh
I'm not meant to just stay quiet
I'm meant to be a lion
I'll roar beyond a song
With every moment that I've got
True to who You are
You saw my heart
And made
Something out of nothing
God makes sure that the love I have in Him shows.
He knows my name.
And He gives me the means to share His love with you.
I hope you enjoy the daily emails/blog posts, and I hope that you let God in you.

Have a blessed day!
