Now faith is confidence
in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
– Hebrews 11:1
I’ve been asked how I can believe in a God that
I cannot see.
This is a good time to quote a poem:
The man whispered,
"God, speak to me"
And a meadowlark sang.
But the man did not hear.
So the man yelled,
"God, speak to me!"
And the thunder rolled across the sky
But the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said,
"God, let me see You"
And a star shone brightly
But the man did not notice.
And the man shouted,
"God, show me a miracle!"
And a life was born
But the man did not know.
So the man cried out in despair,
"Touch me, God,
and let me know You are here!"
Whereupon God reached down
And touched the man.
But the man brushed the butterfly away
And walked away unknowingly.
Take time to listen.
"God, speak to me"
And a meadowlark sang.
But the man did not hear.
So the man yelled,
"God, speak to me!"
And the thunder rolled across the sky
But the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said,
"God, let me see You"
And a star shone brightly
But the man did not notice.
And the man shouted,
"God, show me a miracle!"
And a life was born
But the man did not know.
So the man cried out in despair,
"Touch me, God,
and let me know You are here!"
Whereupon God reached down
And touched the man.
But the man brushed the butterfly away
And walked away unknowingly.
Take time to listen.
The power of faith is that it takes us toward
the future with confidence.
Since none of us can know what tomorrow holds,
faith becomes a powerful friend, for faith holds back the anxieties that can
flood our soul.
I am going through a lot of personal struggle
right now, and it is only my faith in God that keeps me grounded.
If you find yourself anxious today, take a moment and stop and refresh your perspective.
If you find yourself anxious today, take a moment and stop and refresh your perspective.
Hope in the unseen can strengthen your heart to
face tomorrow.
Have a blessed day!
