For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Back in 1985 there was a song released called “Money For Nothing” by the band Dire Straits.
Today the lyrics are considered offensive, so I won’t quote them here, but the song was written after overhearing delivery men complain about their jobs.
The song indicates that the delivery men are frustrated with the hard work that they put in compared to the “easy life” of rock stars and the perception that the rock stars get everything without having to work for it.
There seems to be a lot of laziness in the world today, people trying to work the system to get a lot of everything with no effort.
It is sad to see people not lifting a finger to help themselves or anyone else, yet the same people expect and sometimes receive compensation for time and activity in which they had no participation.
For those who do work hard (even rock stars don’t have it as easy as you’d think), just keep on doing your work.
God knows the truth.
