what a gift :)

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

– Isaiah 9:6

I have been called many things over the years, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, but no one ever predicted what my existence might mean to someone else.

Yet this prophecy, which was written over 700 years before the birth of Christ, spoke of a person who would redeem Israel a person who would be known to many people by many names. 

He would be a compassionate counselor, He would be as all-powerful as God, He would reveal the Everlasting Father and He would be our Prince of Peace.

Emmanuel.

While Jesus is God's Son and Mary's son, according to Isaiah's prophecy, He is also shared with us.

Jesus is the child given to the world so you and I can become God's child.

When we feel like our lives are falling apart God promises us hope in Jesus Christ.

Jesus still reveals the Father to us in wonderful ways.

What greater gift can we have than Jesus, and through Jesus, God as our Father.
