Trouble is all around me, but you keep me alive. You reach out your hand to put a stop to the anger of my enemies. With your powerful right hand you save me.
-Psalm 138:7 (NIRV)
Recently, I’ve faced difficulty with a specific person in my life—a situation that sometimes leaves me feeling stuck and even physically unwell. (Let me clarify that the specific person is not my husband or my immediate family). This individual has created challenges in many areas, making it feel as if I’m constantly under attack. Externally, it’s like having an adversary determined to bring me down, with fresh difficulties surfacing almost daily. Internally, it stirs up struggles with sin, doubt, and fear.
Yet even in the midst of these challenges, God has the power to restore life, strength, and hope. Whether He’s preserving our physical well-being, strengthening our spirits, or renewing our faith and resolve, He is always at work. Even when we can’t see it, God intervenes to restrain the anger and hostility of those who oppose us when we turn our hearts to Him.
We must stand firm in our faith and trust in God’s ability to protect and deliver us in times of adversity. When we are surrounded by trouble, God is present—to revive us, to hold back our enemies, and ultimately to save. He is gracious, merciful, loving, and kind. He provides everything we need: water when we thirst, food when we hunger, and protection as we rest.
God gives life, and He is life. Never doubt for a moment that He is real, that He loves you, and that you are held by Him every minute of every day.
