silence

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.
- Isaiah 43:2 (NLT)

Have you ever prayed about something and felt like God wasn't listening? You pray, you wait, you pray some more, and nothing seems to change. Sometimes the silence can be harder than the storm itself.
During our CMA rally, one of the speakers made a statement that really caught my attention: “Don't misunderstand God's silence.”
In Matthew 8, Jesus and His disciples were caught in a terrible storm. The disciples were terrified, but Jesus was sleeping!
Can you imagine? The boat is being tossed around, the disciples think they're going to die, and Jesus is taking a nap!
But here's the thing. Jesus wasn't unaware of the storm, and He certainly wasn't powerless against it. He was right there with them.
Sometimes we want God to immediately calm whatever storm we're facing. But perhaps what we need first is the reassurance that He's still in the boat.
God never promised we wouldn't face storms. He promised we wouldn't face them alone.
And just because heaven seems quiet doesn't mean God isn't working.
