story time

When we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, we were not telling just clever stories that someone invented. But we saw the greatness of Jesus with our own eyes.
- 2 Peter 1:16 (NCV)

Have you ever listened to someone tell a story that just sounded too good to be true? You know, the kind that makes you tilt your head and wonder if they’re exaggerating just a little? We’ve all been there. The world is full of tall tales, edited stories, and filtered realities that make truth harder and harder to find.
But when Peter wrote these words, he wanted to make something very clear: the story of Jesus isn’t a fairy tale. It’s not a myth or a feel-good story someone made up to give people hope. Peter had seen Jesus with his own eyes. He had walked beside Him, heard His voice, watched Him perform miracles, and witnessed His glory firsthand.
This wasn’t secondhand faith for Peter—it was personal. And that’s exactly what God wants for us too.
Our faith isn’t built on clever words or emotional moments. It’s built on the unshakable truth of who Jesus is—alive, powerful, and still working in our lives today. When we look back on our own journeys, we can see moments where God’s fingerprints were all over our story. Times when the only explanation for what happened was Him.
Peter’s reminder calls us to hold tightly to that truth. The world may try to tell us the Bible is outdated or that faith is just a comforting story, but we know better. We’ve seen His hand at work. We’ve felt His peace when everything was falling apart. We’ve watched prayers get answered in ways only God could arrange.
We are witnesses, too.
