fully committed

So let your whole heart be true to the Lord our God. Walk in His Laws and keep His Word, just as you are doing today.
- 1 Kings 8:61 (NLV)

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to start something strong—and how much harder it is to stay consistent? Whether it’s a new project, a workout routine, or even a promise we make to ourselves, staying committed takes work. The same goes for our walk with God.
When Solomon spoke these words, Israel had just finished building the temple—a huge milestone! The people were celebrating, praising God, and their hearts were full. It was one of those “mountaintop moments.” But Solomon knew something important: emotional highs don’t last forever. Eventually, the excitement fades, and that’s when our commitment is truly tested.
It’s one thing to love God in the big, beautiful moments when everything feels right. It’s another thing to stay faithful in the quiet, ordinary days—or in the hard ones. That’s what Solomon was reminding the people: Don’t let your devotion fade once the celebration is over.
Being “fully committed” doesn’t mean being perfect. It means being anchored. It means choosing—day after day—to keep God at the center. It means trusting Him when we don’t understand, obeying when it’s hard, and loving Him when the world pulls us in every other direction.
So maybe today’s the day to pause and check our hearts. Are we giving God just the easy parts, or are we offering Him everything? Our time, our trust, our obedience—even our worries?
God doesn’t ask for part of our hearts. He wants all of it.
