Those who have believing masters
should not show them disrespect just because they are fellow believers.
Instead, they should serve them even better because their masters are dear to
them as fellow believers and are devoted to the welfare of their slaves.
These are the things you are to teach and insist on. If anyone teaches
otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ
and to godly teaching, they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an
unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in
envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between
people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that
godliness is a means to financial gain.
- 1 Timothy 6:2-5
This is an interesting verse, I think.
Don’t disrespect me because I am a Christ follower, especially
if you are also a follower.
In fact, if we are both followers, should we not be working
together toward the same goal, of bringing others to God?
Are we not, in fact supposed to be teaching His word and LIVING
His word for others to follow?
Basically, I believe this verse is telling us that the
unbelievers gravitate toward the things that are not godly, and it is up to us
to teach.
I don’t want the people I care about to think that dropping a
few bucks in an offering plate is the means to Heaven, because there is so much
more.
Come, let’s learn together.
Have a blessed day!
